Flower Care Tips 🌸

How to Keep Your Flowers Fresh Longer | Blacktown Florist Tips

Congratulations on your beautiful blooms! With just a little care, your flowers can stay bright and fresh for a week or more. Here are our top tips — from our family to yours.

💧 Water

Top up your vase with cool, fresh water every day. Every 2–3 days, do a full water change and add the flower food sachet provided — it really does make a difference!

✂️ Trim the Stems

Every few days, trim about 2–3cm off the stems at a 45° angle. Use sharp scissors and cut under water if possible — this helps the stems absorb water more effectively and keeps your flowers hydrated.

🌤️ Placement

Find a cool spot for your flowers, ideally between 18–22°C. Keep them away from:

  • Direct sunlight
  • Heaters or air conditioning vents
  • Ripening fruit — fruit releases ethylene gas, which causes flowers to wilt faster

🌿 Remove Leaves Below the Waterline

Gently remove any leaves that sit below the water's surface. This keeps the water clean and fresh, helping your flowers last longer.

Something not quite right?

If your flowers wilt sooner than expected, snap a quick photo and give us a call — we're always happy to help and make it right.
